Das 30. Albert Schweitzer Turnier (AST) für U18-Nationalmannschaften männlich aus der ganzen Welt findet vom 3.-10. April 2021 in Mannheim und Viernheim statt. Ursprünglich sollte das renommierte Turnier in diesem Jahr zu Ostern ausgetragen werden, musste jedoch aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie verschoben werden. Ab 2021 wird das im Zwei-Jahres-Rhythmus ausgetragene Turnier dann jeweils in den ungeraden Jahren durchgeführt.
„In unseren Gesprächen mit den Städten Mannheim und Viernheim sowie mit unseren Partnern ist klargeworden, dass wir das AST so schnell wie möglich nachholen und dann weiter alle zwei Jahre austragen möchten. Ich danke allen Beteiligten für das große Verständnis und für die große Bereitschaft, dem AST die Treue zu halten und dabei mitzuhelfen, das Turnier im Jahr 2021 zu einem tollen Erlebnis zu machen. Wir freuen uns alle umso mehr darauf“, bekräftigte der DBB-Vizepräsident für Jugend und Schule, Stefan Raid.
Die teilnehmenden Nationen, der neue Spielplan und alle weiteren wichtigen Informationen zum Turnier werden zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt bekannt gegeben.
30th Albert Schweitzer tournament will take place in 2021
The 30th Albert Schweitzer Tournament (AST) for U18 male national teams from around the world takes place from 3rd to 10th April 2021 in Mannheim and Viernheim. Originally, the renowned tournament was to be held this Easter, but had to be postponed due to the corona pandemic. From 2021, the tournament will be held every two years in odd years.
“In our discussions with the cities of Mannheim and Viernheim and with our partners, it became clear that we want to make up for the AST as quickly as possible and then continue to hold it every two years. I would like to thank everyone involved for their great understanding and willingness to remain loyal to the AST and to help make the tournament in 2021 a great experience. We are all looking forward to it all the more“, said DBB Vice President for Youth and School, Stefan Raid.
The participating nations, the new schedule and all other important information about the tournament will be announced at a later date.
